Coming too soon

It is so exciting, the thrill of meeting someone. Courting them all through the night until finally you speak and the sparks fly.

That first kiss is intense, as is the cab ride you share. Then you race upstairs and the clothes come off – so much heat, so much passion.

But then it’s over before it began. You are slightly flattered but annoyed. He’s embarrassed but relaxed and the whole mess has all but wound up on your leg.

Some guys just can’t hold their excitement. Whether it’s psychological, physical or genetic, there are certain steps you can take to stop the curtain coming down before the first act.

The trigger is usually because you touched their gun. It’s on the edge, and even just a light brush against it can fire it off. So obviously you just slow down and avoid. Start with a massage perhaps or even just some holding.

Ease into it and when the end is near, stop and wait. This can be frustrating but eventually it can be trained. If you get the feeling that it’s on the way, change the subject and talk about something completely different. Your cat that died. Your Nanna that died. This can also create laughter and lighten the mood.

Otherwise, a quickie might be another option – get them to work on you first and when you are almost there, start working on them.

If it persists, carry a spare pair of pants and lots of tissues.
