Although local radio is only just picking up on single Black And Gold, Sam Sparro is already massive in the UK. The Aussie native grew up in a musical family who introduced him to soul music at a young age.
This influence is heavily present on his debut album, but with touches of electronica, it's a refreshing spin on the genre. The album works best when Sparro funks it up; tracks like Hot Mess and Cut Me Loose sound like classic Prince, while Sick could be early Depeche Mode.
