Brokeback Mountain is soon to be adapted into an opera. Renowned American composer Charles Wuorinen has been commissioned by the New York City Opera to compose the work.
Wuorinen said that as soon as he encountered the Annie Proulx story, he wanted to base an opera around it. Before you start queuing at the ticket office, be warned: the show is not set to premiere until 2013.
