It’s all about networking and soon Melbourne’s film making community will have their own dedicated short film night.
Tangerine launches next month in St. Kilda with the aim of creating a regular monthly forum for budding filmmakers and those already established in the industry.
The venture is a labour of love for British expatriate, Collette Crespin who has been inspired by Melbournian’s enthusiasm for culture and festivals.
“They really embrace a good idea, which I love,” she says. “But I noticed that ad agencies and production companies did not really hang out or network that much outside of a work project context, so I thought it would be a great way to bring people together.
Crespin aims to create a regular forum for networking and enjoying quality home grown film production with the long-term goal to develop Tangerine into an annual film festival or award ceremony.
The night is open to all short film genres including animation and documentary.
“Anything that is not a commercial,” explains Crespin.
"We all work hard and it is time to relax, enjoy what we do and remember why we do it - for the love of a good idea and good film making."
