A frequent visitor to these shores, guitarist and songwriter Kaki King has built up a committed fanbase in recent years, and on the basis of this album, it’s not hard to see why.

For the most part, she lets her expert guitar work tell the stories, only puncturing her songs intermittently with her soft, breathy vocals. The mood throughout is mellow, but the lyrics in songs like Life Being What It Is pack an unexpected bite. And special mention must be made of the fantastically titled instrumental Can Anyone Who Has Heard This Music Really Be A Bad Person?
