A man was arrested for disorderly conduct and public intoxication after harassing Cher in a bar last week. The man repeatedly attempted to make contact with the pop star, eventually managing to grab her around the waist. He was escorted out of the bar and then asked to be arrested, according to police. He must've known the gays would be after him.

India hosted its first national pride march last week, with brave Indians marching in three different cities. In the city of Kolkata, 400 people marched with banners and flags, flanked by almost as many police. Still afraid of anti-gay sentiment in the country, many marchers wore masks to conceal their identity. Currently, "unlawful sex" in India is punishable by a fine and a 10-year prison term.

The Hobart City Council has voted overwhelmingly in favour of apologising to the Tasmanian gay and lesbian community. The historic apology will be delivered to mark the anniversary of a council ban 20 years ago on a gay rights stall at the Salamanca Market.

Queensland celebrated its pride march in Brisbane last weekend. The day drew large crowds which started in the city and marched across the Brisbane River. The theme for this year's parade was 'Freedom.'

All lesbians should be Greek - that's according to some nationals of the small island of Lesbos, who have mounted a legal case against gay women calling themselves 'lesbians'. The Lesbians - that is, the Lesbos residents - are demanding the term only be used for people actually deriving from the island. Human rights campaigners say that it is 'barely disguised homophobia' in a country that is still battling with its acceptance of gay people. 

Scientists have discovered what lesbians have hoped for years - straight women get turned on by other women. Canadian researcher Dr Meredith Chivers released results of a study indicating that while watching a television screen, what turned women on was not the gender of the subject, but the level of steamy activity.
