ChillOut’s little buddies

This year’s Daylesford ChillOut Festival Communities Caring for Children appeal has raised almost $27,000, thanks to the support of local businesses and residents including McKenzie’s Foods, celebrity auctioneer Dolly Diamond, and ChillOut sponsors Mercedes-Benz and Hepburn Shire Council. It’s estimated that the ChillOut Festival, the largest gay and lesbian festival in rural Australia, drew 25,000 visitors.

HIV funding fear

The Victorian AIDS Council/Gay Men’s Health Centre (VAC/GMHC) has welcomed the allocation in the State Budget of $16.6 million over four years to reduce rates of HIV transmission and prevent other communicable diseases, but has warned of a severe shortfall in valuable research if Commonwealth funding is not renewed in June.
